2013 FFToolbox Expert Mock Draft #2

Draft took place July 2nd 2013

Scoring System: PPR, 12 team
Using FFWC Rules

Ovr Pick Franchise Selection Pos. Team Age Exp.
101 9.05 Fantasy Sharks Jermichael Finley TE --- 28 4
102 9.06 World Ranked Player #26 Colin Kaepernick QB SF 27 1
I didn't like seeing a QB of Kaepernick's caliber sitting there in the late 9th so I made sure no one else could reap the reward.
103 9.07 The Huddle Danny Woodhead RB SD 30 4
There were other banks ranked higher on my cheat sheet who were still available, but Woodhead's upside in a PPR format warrants a bit of a reach. He was a top-25 fantasy back with a sliver of a role in New England last year; now he's Ryan Mathews' caddy, which can only help his numbers in 2013.
104 9.08 Draft TV Bernard Pierce RB JAX 23 R
I love Bernard Pierce! With Jim Caldwell as offensive coordinator, Pierce was a flex play. As an RB4? I'm in love. I think he snipes TDs with very little red zone threats in Baltimore.
105 9.09 KFFL Antonio Gates TE SD 34 9
106 9.10 Fantasy Football QB Tony Romo QB DAL 34 9
I didn't expect Kaepernick to fall to the 9th, but once he did I was counting on him to fall to me because I did not expect another team taking their QB2 soon given the roster depth needs that the FFWC dual-flex format creates. Oh well, what's up Tony? I hear FFToolbox has you with the best schedule for quarterbacks this year.
107 9.11 BFD Fantasy Vincent Brown WR OAK 26 1
108 9.12 KFFSC Denarius Moore WR OAK 26 1
My Ray Rice handcuff was stolen this round. I was really hoping to take him with one of these picks but that's what I get for waiting. And with the pick of BGE last round it's time to add another WR. Just my luck a number one WR on a team that's going to have to throw the ball. Moore can give you a 20 point game but he can also give you a 4 point game. I expect Matt Flynn to win the starting job over Pryor. That's a good thing for Moore and a good thing for my roster as we enter the 10th round.
109 10.01 KFFSC Alshon Jeffery WR CHI 25 R
I'm really excited to see what the Bears offense looks like this year. New coaches known for throwing the ball and his 2nd year in the league. I expect Jeffery to break out and become worth putting in my starting lineup as a flex on a weekly basis.
110 10.02 BFD Fantasy Michael Bush RB --- 30 5
111 10.03 Fantasy Football QB Ryan Broyles WR DET 26 R
I hear there are a few pass attempts in Detroit, maybe a few can go in the direction of the NCAA record holder for receptions.
112 10.04 KFFL Ben Tate RB --- 26 2
113 10.05 Draft TV Rueben Randle WR NYG 23 R
Maybe a slight reach, but I think Randle finds a way to be productive this season. WR3 on a team that passes more than it should already and Nicks has that injury bug on his head... I think Randle has fine upside for a WR4
114 10.06 The Huddle DeAngelo Williams RB PIT 31 6
Guess I was too slow to pull the trigger on the Ben Tate handcuff; lesson learned, I guess. Williams has as much talent as just about any back in the league; the question is, will it take another Jonathan Stewart injury or a trade for him to get a chance to use it? Worst-case, his limited touches produce what you'd expect from a 10th-rounder; best-case, he manages to get the touches he deserves and dramatically outperforms his draft slot.
115 10.07 World Ranked Player #26 Brandon Pettigrew TE DET 30 3
For waiting on TE I was please to grab Pettigrew in a pass happy offense.
116 10.08 Fantasy Sharks Bryce Brown RB BUF 23 R
117 10.09 Zach Law on Sports Zac Stacy RB STL 23 -1
118 10.10 Gridiron Experts Chris Givens WR STL 25 R
Currently Givens projects out as the number one receiver in St. Louis. Tremendous value to grab a team's top guy this late into a draft.
119 10.11 Scout PRO Jordan Cameron TE MIA 26 1
120 10.12 FFToolbox Johnathan Franklin RB --- 25 -1
Lacy's handcuff. He's explosive and should form a nice one-two punch on occasion even with a healthy Eddie Lacy.
121 11.01 FFToolbox Owen Daniels TE DEN 32 6
Mr. Under-appreciated 2013. He had a great season last year and some are predicting his demise too early IMO.
122 11.02 Scout PRO Emmanuel Sanders WR DEN 28 2
123 11.03 Gridiron Experts Isaiah Pead RB --- 25 R
Again, ScoutPRO got me, as I was was ready to jump all over Sanders, who I'd considering taking over Givens with my previous pick. I didn't intend to take back-to-back Rams, but we currently have Pead still favored to lead St. Louis in carries. Granted, it should be a committee all season, but Pead flashed some nice potential last year.
124 11.04 Zach Law on Sports Cordarrelle Patterson WR MIN 24 -1
125 11.05 Fantasy Sharks Seattle Def SEA
Pick made based on My Draft Queue
126 11.06 World Ranked Player #26 Ronnie Hillman RB DEN 23 R
This was a RB depth pick with a potential for more if Ball doesn't pick up offense quick. Hillman will have role regardless.
127 11.07 The Huddle Mikel Leshoure RB --- 25 1
Still throwing darts at running back depth. Leshoure should see the goal line work in Detroit and gets the narrow nod over Vick Ballard.
128 11.08 Draft TV Vick Ballard RB IND 24 R
Ballard is getting a raw deal. RB5 in the 11th? Does anyone remember Bradshaw's injury history? I think Ballard puts up RB2 numbers for the 2nd half of the season and this ends up a steal.
129 11.09 KFFL Brandon Myers TE TB 29 3
130 11.10 Fantasy Football QB Pierre Thomas RB --- 30 5
Going back to this RB depth need: this pick made sense to me because Thomas can be unspectacular but serviceable for those weeks where another RB may be sidelined due to injury. He can do everything well in the backfield, but it's the situation that limits any upside with him.
131 11.11 BFD Fantasy Greg Little WR --- 25 1
132 11.12 KFFSC Fred Jackson RB BUF 34 6
Wow, I'm feeling better about drafting Green-Ellis and missing on my Ray Rice handcuff. Fred Jackson at the end of the 11th round is an awesome value. I don't expect that to happen again. I agree with the consensus that CJ Spiller is going to have a great year and is the Buffalo RB to have on your team if you can only pick one. But you can pick more than one, and the Spiller owner's decision to pass on Jackson is my gain. He's a great bye week starter who will see some goal line work and some touches as a change of pace back. Even if Spiller stays healthy (and I never want to see a player get hurt) Jackson is a really solid addition to my team as a 4th RB.
133 12.01 KFFSC Jermaine Gresham TE --- 26 2
Gresham is solid as a TE2 even as he fights off the rookie Eifert. I expect to see two TE sets frequently this season for the Bengals. They have two talented TEs and one could fit in nicely in a 3 WR set. I'm sure some later drafted TE will outscore Gresham, but I'm comfortable with him as a back up to Vernon Davis. I value consistency with bye week fill ins and Gresham still has a lot of big game potential especially when the Bengals find themselves in the redzone.
134 12.02 BFD Fantasy Robert Turbin RB SEA 25 R
135 12.03 Fantasy Football QB Julian Edelman WR NE 28 3
It could be qualified as a reach, but if I barely care about the ADP in the first few rounds, I certainly don't care about the ADP in the late rounds. The way I see it is this: Edelman is the only WR option left in NE who actually has an established rapport with Brady, he knows the system, he played well in Welker's spot before, and he can have real PPR value when he is on the field. That last bit is what will make him a value or not.
136 12.04 KFFL Mohamed Sanu WR CIN 25 R
137 12.05 Draft TV Markus Wheaton WR PIT 24 -1
I love Markus Wheaton's talent and the situation is ripe to get some targets & win the Steelers #3 job right off the bat. More upside for my WR bench
138 12.06 The Huddle Michael Vick QB --- 34 11
With Tom Brady as my quarterback I can afford to take a risk here. If Vick turns out to be Chip Kelly's guy he could put up monster numbers in this offense; if not... oh well, guess I have to keep using Brady.
139 12.07 World Ranked Player #26 Brian Hartline WR CLE 28 3
WR depth pick here as Hartline has a great chemistry with Tannehill. Should be a 70 catch guy again.
140 12.08 Fantasy Sharks Sidney Rice WR --- 28 5
141 12.09 Zach Law on Sports Aaron Dobson WR NE 23 -1
142 12.10 Gridiron Experts Eli Manning QB NYG 34 8
This one hurt. Zach got me. It's almost as if he listened to me on Boston radio Saturday morning talking about Dobson being a nice sleeper for the Pats. I wasn't too crazy about many of the position players available here, so I'll just grab my top-rated player. Eli has been a consistent fantasy starter for years. He only has to be good for me for one week.
143 12.11 Scout PRO Martellus Bennett TE CHI 28 4
144 12.12 FFToolbox Jacquizz Rodgers RB --- 25 1
A PPR threat and should provide as a quality starter in the event that St Jax goes down. Flier with upside. 100+ carries this year and 40+ receptions seem in the bag as well.
145 13.01 FFToolbox Fred Davis TE --- 29 4
Here's a guy coming back from serious injury who appears to be back to normal reading reports. If that's the case, what's not to like in the 13th round? He's done it before, he can do it again.
146 13.02 Scout PRO Darrius Heyward-Bey WR PIT 28 3
147 13.03 Gridiron Experts Keenan Allen WR SD 22 -1
Not a lot left out there, so I chose to go with a high upside rookie who should be the second best wide receiver for a team, in San Diego, that's likely to be passing a lot this season.
148 13.04 Zach Law on Sports Tyler Eifert TE CIN 24 -1
149 13.05 Fantasy Sharks Ryan Williams RB DAL 24 1
150 13.06 World Ranked Player #26 Santonio Holmes WR --- 31 6
I do not really like this pick but hoping Holmes can regain form and be their #1.
