Week 11: Injury Update
Green hauled in a spectacular leaping 36 yard TD in the first half against Pittsburgh, but came down awkwardly on his knee and was unable to return for the week 10 loss. Head coach Marvin Lewis has reported that he fully expects Green to suit up when the Bengals travel to Baltimore for another crucial AFC North battle in week 11. The 4th overall pick in this year's draft has more than lived up to the hype as the Georgia alum is averaging 71 YPG with six touchdowns through nine games (ranks 7th at his position in fantasy scoring). All signs point to Green returning for week 11, but we won't know for sure until he returns to the practice field. The Ravens' pass defense has been solid this season as they rank 6th in yardage (194 YPG) and have yielded the fewest passing TDs (6) in the league. Green is a weekly must start despite the difficult match-up. Jerome Simpson could see an increase in targets if Green is unable to play, but for now it seems safe to pencil Green into week 11 fantasy lineups.
Through seven games, the rookie from Alabama has flashed the skills that led the Falcons to give up a king's ransom in order to move up in April's draft. He's averaging 71 YPG with two touchdowns (both in week 9). In the week 5 Sunday night loss to Green Bay, JJ came up lame late in the 3rd quarter with a left hamstring injury and was forced to miss weeks 6 and 7. Jones had a true breakout performance against Indianapolis in week 9 (133 yards and 2 TDs), but injured his right hamstring early in the week 10 loss to New Orleans and was unable to return (finished with 2 catches for 9 yards). He has yet to practice this week and could miss his 3rd game of the season when Atlanta hosts Tennessee in week 11. In Jones' absence, Harry Douglas had a monster performance in week 10 -- hauling in eight catches for 133 yards and could be in line for the start this week against a Titan pass defense that has regressed in recent weeks (currently ranked 15th against the pass).
With DeSean Jackson deactivated (missed team meeting) for the dream match-up with a struggling Arizona defense, many expected Maclin to post top 10 numbers in week 10. However, the Eagles' leading WR suffered multiple injuries -- including a separated shoulder and hamstring strain -- that have his status for week 11 in serious jeopardy. The 3rd year WR from Missouri is averaging 68 YPG with four TDs and would likely be replaced in the starting lineup by Jason Avant. With the Eagles not playing until Sunday night, Maclin will likely be listed as a game time decision and his owners need to make alternative plans.
