Week 8: Player Downgrades
Guy dominates the first quarter of the first game with his new team and star quarterback with 4 receptions for 109 yards and a loooong score...then poof, disappears into mysterious foot injury hell. Since those 15 minutes, Garcon has only four more catches. Seeing as he can't kick the foot woes, Garcon might not be adding to that paltry total for another 2-3 weeks. In deeper leagues, you can argue the playmaking receiver is worth the wait, especially the way RGIII has been making play after play. You can also state with convinction in all formats that it's time to part ways if roster space is needed or some free agent receiver suits you. I wonder, how do you say fantasy football tease in French? Regardless, bon voyage Pierre, for now anyway.
When the dust settled surrounding the ginormous move that brought Peyton Manning to the Broncos, ex-Colt Jacob Tamme quickly became a fantasy sleeper, seeing as he would be reunited with the passer that made him viable starter for a time. The targets have been there - 10 in week 3, 11 against New England in Week 5 - the production less so. Tamme has not found the end zone since the season opener while his tag team partner Joe Dreessen has hauled in touchdown throws in three of the past four games. As a bye week hope, as a stash for those thinking long term, you can hold on to those early season dreams, but those still trotting the Broncos TE as a weekly play need to stop. The Saints defense, while brutal overall, has been effective shutting off tight ends to boot, making Tamme's hopes for a Week 8 blast off dim.Injury Status: Injured Reserve
