Week 1: Game Time Decisions - Injury Update
The Vikings traded back into the first round of April's draft in hopes of securing a dynamic playmaker to replace Percy Harvin. In one season at the University of Tennessee, CP hauled in 46 passes for 778 yards and 5 TDs, while also adding 25 rushes for 308 yards. As an added bonus, Patterson is a dynamic kick returner which should pay dividends for those that own the Vikings' DST this year. The rookie is battling a back injury that limited him in Thursday practice; with Christian Ponder under center, Patterson owners should probably take a wait and see approach (unless you play in deeper PPR leagues and are desperate for a week 1 flier). The Lions' pass defense ranked 14th last season allowing 223 YPG. Through three preseason games, Patterson had 8 catches for 84 yards and remains listed behind pedestrian talent Jerome Simpson on the depth chart (we expect he's in the starting lineup by the end of September).
The 31-year-old WR is battling an ankle sprain, but has had over three weeks to rest the injury. Also - and this is important -, White never missed a game during his eight-year career so expect him on the field for the expected shootout in New Orleans. In two games against the Saints last season, White caught eight passes for 134 yards. Harry Douglas could jump onto the WR3 radar if White has a setback, but for now he should remain on waiver wire fodder. New Orleans' porous pass defense ranked 31st last season, allowing 293 YPG through the air, making White and Julio Jones WR1 level plays this week.Injury Status: Out - Hamstring
