Week 7: Pickups of the Week
The 49ers blundered when projecting then free-agent Mario Manningham into a starting role. Compared to the current options opposite Anquan Boldin, Manningham is Larry Fitzgerald. So while normally he'd be a run-of-the-mill depth option, the ex-Giant has sneaky potential once he returns from a knee injury. Eligible to come off the PUP list this week, Manningham could begin practicing on early this week with a projected on-field return in Week 8. For those with roster space to spare, he's a worthy sign-and-stash. We're not talking massive upside, but he has opportunity as the 49ers' third receiving target.MyFantasyLeague availability: 100%
Don't worry if you never heard of Tim Wright before Week 6 or not until reading this post. Seeing as he's currently owned in ZERO percent of MyFantasyLeague.com leagues, clearly you're not alone. The important point is that Bucs quarterback Mike Glennon is clearly aware of his fellow rookie, one that was undrafted out of Rutgers. Against the Eagles in Week 6, the 6-foot-4 target and former wide receiver caught seven passes for 91 yards one game after he went 5-41 versus the Cardinals. There had been zero reason to monitor Tampa's tight end position early in the season due to limited talent and the offensive schemes not emphasizing the position. At the least start monitoring Wright as a TE2/dynasty option. Those in need of help this week should note he faces a Falcons defense allowing the 7th most points to fantasy tight ends.
