Week 8: Start 'Em
The Redskins were excited when they drafted Jordan Reed in the third round of the 2013 NFL draft, but they never expected him to be such a difference maker so early. Each week, the Redskins began to involve Reed more and more in the offense and that built up to his breakout game this past week, when he went off for nine receptions for 134 yards and one touchdown. He has become the number two guy in the passing game behind Pierre Garcon and faces a great matchup this week, when Washington goes to Denver to face a Broncos team giving up an NFL worst 319 yards passing per game. Reed makes for a great start at TE, but also makes for a good start as a flex or even low end WR3.
If you're in need of a starting tight end in week eight, Brandon Pettigrew might be a good option. He plays with a quarterback that has attempted at least 35 passes in each game and that doesn't appear to stop any time soon. This week the Lions face a Cowboys defense that has given up the fourth most passing yards per game at 291.9 per. A good portion of those yards have been given up to tight ends. So far this season, the Cowboys have given up 46 receptions for 530 yards and four touchdowns to TEs this year. If you need help at TE this week, give Pettigrew a look.
