Week 12: Sit 'Em

We look at players owners usually consider starting but should think otherwise this week. Profiled players include Profiled players include Philip Rivers, Ben Roethlisberger, Andre Ellington, Montee Ball, and Cecil Shorts.

Tavon Austin made his biggest fantasy impact of his young career in week ten, catching two touchdown passes for 138 yards, while also finding the endzone on a long punt return. The electric rookie was picked up in many fantasy leagues after this game, but I would not recommend starting him until he starts seeing the field more on offense. Despite his big fantasy numbers in week ten, Austin played just 15 snaps on offense, a number that will not lead to fantasy success in the future. Fantasy owners should not take the gamble on Austin this week.

Coming off his biggest game of the season, I would recommend sitting Michael Floyd on fantasy benches. The second year wide receiver caught six passes for 193 yards and a touchdown in week 11, giving owners hope that he will finally turn the corner and become a reliable fantasy starter. I would not depend on Floyd this week as he had only amassed 61 total receiving yards in the previous two games combined, and is a high risk, high reward play as a WR 3 this week. Unless you have a wide receiver injured or on a bye week, I would keep Floyd on your bench.
