Week 12: Sit 'Em

We look at players owners usually consider starting but should think otherwise this week. Profiled players include Profiled players include Philip Rivers, Ben Roethlisberger, Montee Ball, Tavon Austin, and Michael Floyd.

The impressive rookie seemed to fall back behind Rashard Mendenhall in week 11, as he touched the ball ten times compared to Mendenhall's 16 touches. Ellington is excellent with the ball in space, but if he is only going to touch the ball between 10-15 times, he is an extremely risky play in all fantasy leagues. Ellington has the potential to break a big play or two in any game, but when he cannot get into open space, he will turn in very poor fantasy games, as he did in week 11. I would only start Ellington if you are desperate for a high risk, high reward option in week 12.

Cecil Shorts is in the midst of a major slump, leaving fantasy owners wondering if he will be able to rebound this season. Shorts has caught just four passes over the previous two games, and voiced his displeasure with the Jaguars' offense after the week 11 loss. The third year wide receiver should be able to bounce back to fantasy relevance eventually, but I would not expect it to happen this week. The Jaguars take on the number one passing defense in the league this week in Houston, making it a good idea to leave Shorts on fantasy benches.
