Who wants to be a "Fantasy Millionaire"?
I'm sure everyone remembers the game show Who Wants to be a Millionaire where you had to answer a bunch of stupid questions and the odds were stacked against you. But I prefer Slumdog Millionaire which is one of my all-time favorite movies. Enough talk about my social calendar, let's get into the real reason we are here.
The DraftKings Fantasy Millionaire contest which is set to go off Week 16. You still have time to qualify each week on DraftKings, but your best shot is the EXCLUSIVE contest here at FF TOOLBOX that you can join here. For just $10 you have a shot to play for $1 Million Real Money Week 16 playing 1-Week Fantasy Football.
Here are some of the plays I'm recommending this week you can use on DraftKings based on their salaries and Toolbox's projections, along with my own Rath's Secret Sauce!
Mike Glennon ($6300) vs DET – I'm expecting some Tecmo Bowl type action in this game. Neither team can stop the pass and we saw what the Steelers did last week to this porous Lions D that has zero secondary. Pairing Glennon with VJax is going to be like a fine Cabernet with your Bone In Rib eye you are eating after winning this week.
Tom Brady ($7200) vs DEN – You know both teams have had this game circled all year and most likely will end up deciding the top seed in the AFC. The Pats had to go with a much different game plan vs. the Panthers on Monday night, but here back at home I'm expecting them to air it out and another classic Manning/Brady down to the wire shootout. 300 passing yards, 3 TDs book it.
Ryan Fitzpatrick ($5600) vs. OAK – I'm going with Fitzpatrick for a couple of reasons. The first is that I'm a strong proponent of trying to pair your QB with the top WR or TE on the board for the week if the matchup dictates. Later on you will see that I like both Kendall Wright and Delanie Walker this week, so Fitz is the play. While the ceiling really isn't there, the floor is solid enough to where spending $5600 at your QB and his FF Toolbox projection is 19.3 giving nice value. No Scandal here for this Fitz.
Shane Vereen ($5000) vs DEN – I'm piggybacking on my man Scott Atkins here with this one. We saw Vereen back in the offense vs. Carolina and I only expect more of the same. Expect Vereen to see more carries this week, as his running style didn't play well vs. the Carolina D. Also, with Ridley's fumble issues again popping up, Vereen should snake 5-8 carries. With a 1 pt PPR, and the FLEX he's a must play this week on DraftKings. Also, I'm spending a lot of my budget at the WR position because of the value at the RB slot. Take advantage of this price because it's probably the last time he will be under $7000. I think his ceiling is 30 fantasy points.
Zac Stacy ($6200) vs. CHI – OK, Ray Rice tore them up. The same Ray Rice who has done nothing all year. Stacy's been a hot back and showing he is clearly the top back in STL right now. His ceiling is 20 fantasy points and maybe as high as 24.
Andre Brown ($6000) vs DAL – Have to like this one to be higher scoring, and Brown to get the bulk of the carries. Another great value play this week at the RB spot. This Cowboys' rush D is the worst in the league right now. Make it a Dre Day.
Calvin Johnson ($10,000) vs TB – Yea, genius pick here RATH, only the best player on the planet right now, but with 1 PT PPR, plus performance bonus on 100 yards receiving this format reward MegaTron even more. You need at least 24 pts from his to make this pay off and his ceiling is ??? Well we've seen 300 yards before…
Vincent Jackson ($7700) vs DET- We have seen WR1's torch the Lions all year long, and VJax gets all the targets right now. What I really like is the run threat of Bobby Rainey is just enough to keep the Lions D honest in what should be a shootout.
Kendall Wright ($5700) vs. OAK – The ultimate cash game WR because his floor is about the best in the game, but there is no real ceiling. Cash games are heads up, double up 50/50s, and non-tournament contest in which you want SAFE players in your lineups.
Not a huge fan of taking both Delanie Walker and Kendall Wright from the same game, so I'm recommending that you only play one of them this week.
Rueben Randle ($4700) vs DAL – Another shout out to my man Matt DeLima who came through on this Randle pick in his Sleepers column and I'm doubling down. It's your typical boom or bust play that you need to cash in , in order to cash out the Fantasy Millionaire.
Delanie Walker ($4500) vs OAK – My top TE play of the week is Walker who has been getting a ton of targets and producing now. This was the reason they let Jared Cook go, plus he just sucks.
Greg Olson ($4100) vs MIA – Olson has scored 3 TD in the past 4 weeks and the Dolphins have been susceptible to the TE. Game should be a close one in the mid-20s which leads itself to Olson getting at least 5 / 60 / 1 TD which is 17 pts on DraftKings.
John Carlson ($3300) vs GB – I'm expecting the Vikes to move the ball some against the Packers who are still dealing with injuries on the defensive side of the ball. Carlson has been a nice safety valve for Ponder with Kyle Rudolph out.
Ravens ($4,000) vs Jets – There are several criteria I look for when picking a D/ST for 1-Week Fantasy Football. I feel like the Mike Singletary "I want Winners" press conference, but here is what I WANT in my D/ST.
1)I WANT a team going against a bad offense and especially a bad QB that will be sacked at least 3-5 times and throw 2 INTS
Well, enter Geno Smith. Last 4 games (14 sacks, 1 FR, 6 INT, 4 Def TD).
2) I WANT a team at home. Teams generally play better at home, but especially a defense where the crowd can behind them.
3) I WANT a team that is not the most expensive and is in an expected lower scoring game.
The Ravens offense has been putrid all year, and the Jets D has actually been good too.
FFToolbox has the Ravens at as the #1 projected D/ST this week and rightfully so. I'm ok paying for D/ST when the situation warrants it, and this week for sure it does.
So with that being said, I'm rolling with the Ravens as my Top Pick at D/ST this week on DraftKings at JUST $4,000. The ceiling could be 20 pts, but I think the floor is 10 which is solid.
Packers($3100) vs. Vikings – They are at home, going against a bad QB, but the game could be higher scoring, but still at just $3100 and a projected
Browns($3000) vs Steelers – Love the Brownies D at home, just not on the road, and Big Ben should be throwing a lot. This isn't the same Lions D they can carve up. Stick Haden on Antonio Brown and I think Big Ben struggles.
Jets($2300) vs Ravens – I'm taking the other side of this game also because I just think it's going to be a very low scoring game with turnovers. At just $2300 on DraftKings, it opens up your salary cap for some higher value plays at the skill positions.
I try to find a value kicker that can give me at least 10 pts which could be the difference in cashing or winning a Fantasy Millionaire Qualifier between you and the next guy.You just want to make sure you don't post a low total here with your kicker and don't spend a ton of money.
Matt Prater, DEN ($3300) @ NE – Incredible value for a kicker in the highest projected scoring game this week, and he has been averaging 10.6 PPG this year.
Mason Crosby, GB ($3500) vs MIN – Even though the offense isn't being led by Aaron Rodgers, it's the Pack at home vs. one of the worst defenses in the league. Could be more FG's opps for Crosby who is a solid bet for double digits.
Graham Gano, CAR ($3300) @ MIA – Should be a close game in the 20s which lends itself to multiple FG opportunities. Miami has given up at least 10 FP to opposing K 5 times this year, and Gano has gotten to 10 pts 4 times.
