Week 5: Player Downgrades
Robert Meachem opened the season with three straight games with a touchdown. Due to the knee injuries bothering Marques Colston, Meachem was the biggest beneficiary to Colston's absence. Now that Colston is playing again, it's time put Meachem back in his place either on the waiver wire or your bench. The Saints certainly won't have trouble scoring, but with one more option ahead of him on the depth chart, Meachem will see fewer snaps, fewer targets and reduced production. In deep leagues, he still has value because of the injury troubles surrounding Lance Moore as well as Colston, but everyone is back and healthy now.
Like everyone else on the Indianapolis Colts, life without Peyton Manning isn't easy. Dallas Clark is feeling the full effect of that as well. Although he has yet to play his Week 4 game against the Tampa Bay Bucs, Clark only has ten receptions this year and has yet to exceed 40 yards in a game. The Colts offense will likely be relying on QB Curtis Painter in the short-term with Kerry Collins recovering from a concussion. Even with Collins under center, there are a lot of more reliable fantasy tight ends. Indy is only averaging 15.6 points per game. Clark isn't a terrible option in PPR leagues since he should consistent have a handful each week, but don't expect many touchdowns from this glass-half-empty team.
