Week 9: Super Sleepers
I was amazed to see that the only players with a receiving touchdown this season for Atlanta are Roddy White, Tony Gonzalez and Ovie Mughelli (who is now on the IR). With all the hype surrounding rookie Julio Jones I figured by now he would have found the end zone, but that's just not the case. I'm betting this week when the Falcons head to Indianapolis a third receiver will find the end zone for Atlanta and that guy is Harry Douglas. Over the past few weeks Douglas' performance has steadily risen. Last week against the Lions, Harry had 4 receptions for 62 yards in what was his best performance of the year. Add a touchdown to another performance similar to last week's and Douglas has a pretty good fantasy week. If you're looking to fill a flex start, take a gander at Douglas; he is still available in 92% of fantasy leagues.
This Sunday the Giants are headed to Foxborough where they will square off with the New England Patriots and their 32 ranked pass defense. Last week in Pittsburgh the Patriots secondary allowed more than 340 yards passing for the fifth time in seven games. In the remaining two games, New England allowed 317 yards to the Cowboys and a meager 166 yards to the Jets, which happens to be the only time the Patriots have kept an opponent under 300 yards this season. Some would argue the reason for this is because teams are always playing from behind, thus throwing in an attempt to catch up. However, if you watch the Patriots defense play you'll see the reason they allow so many yards is they lack a solid pass rush and their cover men are not getting the job done. For this reason alone you should want to play any and every Giants receiver. I don't see the Patriots slowing down the Giants' air attack and thus we're likely to see another 350 yard passing game this weekend. Ballard's numbers the past 4 games have been pretty solid. He has become a threat in the pass game and fantasy owners need to take note. Jake is still available in nearly 44% of fantasy leagues, so if you're looking for a bye week fill in who could easily be an every week starter then Ballard is your man.
