Devin Hester predicts his own breakout season at WR

After two seasons of getting adjusted to the wide receiver position, Devin Hester @D_Hest23 feels he is primed for a breakout year. In 2009, his numbers were 57 receptions, 757 receiving yards and three touchdowns in 13 games. Hester now feels he has learned the position. "It's on a whole different level now," Hester said. "I've got a swag now. This is going to be my breakout year. I'm going to shock a lot of people." Hester worked with one of the all-time greats, retired receiver Isaac Bruce. The Chicago Bears will have Mike Martz as the offensive coordinator. Bruce played under Martz for many seasons and helped Hester with his timing and route-running.

Fantasy Analysis:

Hester has all the talent in the world, but the wide receiver position is not as easy as it may appear to be. The timing, the cuts, the repetition, doing a route the same way consistently, etc. Most receivers in the NFL take time to develop. Consider some of the 2010 Pro Bowl receivers like Miles Austin, Vincent Jackson, Roddy White and Wes Welker all needed at least four seasons to earn that honor. Considering Hester is entering his fifth NFL season and third as a receiver, he should continue to improve. We have Hester ranked as the 53rd WR and in reality, all the Bears' receivers are ranked low on lists because none of them have distinguished themselves from the group. When one of them does, they will certainly outperform the rank they were given, it's just a matter of letting the situation unfold.
