Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Mark Clayton suffered a mild concussion on Saturday night after being floored by New York Giants safety Angrel Rolle. Unfortunately, the hit was illegal. Rolle was penalized on the play for hitting a defenseless receiver, leaving with his helmet. "I feel better now," Clayton said. "He got a good shot. I had to breathe for a little bit, that's all. That's football. Don't fine him." On the day, Clayton caught one pass for 20 yards. "I feel good, but my neck is sore," he said. Other than that, I'm fine. I'm okay." Clayton is currently competing for the WR4 spot.
Once upon a time, Mark Clayton was the next big thing in Baltimore. In 2006, he put up career highs in receptions, receiving yards and touchdowns. He became a popular fantasy sleeper the following offseason. Unfortunately, it never came to be. Injuries piled up and expectations fell flat real quick. This year is no different. Clayton will go undrafted in every league unless you happen to need the 110th ranked WR.Since the Ravens added both Donte Stallwoth and Anquan Boldin alongside veteran Derrick Mason, it's clear who the top three receivers are. Baltimore's offense should be improved, but that doesn't suddenly mean that Clayton will stand to benefit from that. He had 34 receptions last season, he'll probably have less in 2010.
