Mike Martz resigns as Bears' offensive coordinator

Mike Martz resigns as Bears' offensive coordinator

One way or another, Mike Martz was not going to return to the Chicago Bears for the 2012 season. He contract had expired, and his choice was to either be fired or resign. He chose the latter Tuesday. Quarterbacks coach Shane Day is also gone.

Fantasy Analysis:

Martz spent two seasons in Chicago, and some thought that he and Jay Cutler would be a good fit together. But the Bears' offense never really took off with Martz at the helm because his scheme doesn't fit the Bears what the Bears do -- revolve around a strong running game. Martz can be a good offensive coach, but Johnny Knox @Jknox13 and Roy Williams are not Torry Holt and Isaac Bruce, you know? I don't think this has too much impact from a fantasy standpoint. If the Bears get Forte healthy and improve Cutler's options on the outside, they'll be fine on offense.
