Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch gets new 4-year, $31 million contract

Bucking the trend of the weekend, there will be no franchise tag in Marshawn Lynch @MoneyLynch's near future. On Sunday, he signed a four-year deal to remain with the Seattle Seahawks. The deal is worth $31 million and $18 million in guaranteed money. Lynch, who was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent March 13, is coming off a season during which he set career-highs in rushing yards (1,204) and touchdowns (13). Lynch scored in 11 consecutive games -- a club record -- and topped 100 yards in six of the final nine games of the year.

Fantasy Analysis:

Lynch will probably be a second-round fantasy pick this summer, but you won't see me taking him there. Lynch has shown us before that he has tendency to not give full effort when he's not playing for a contract. Now that he's been handsomely paid, I fear that he'll rest on his laurels. His running style also leads to a lot of nicks and nagging injuries, and let's not forget just how awful he was with Seattle in 2010. True, the Seahawks' offensive line is getting better, but I think we've seen the best of Lynch, and I won't be paying for 2011 stats. I'd much rather miss out on him and take the chance that he proves me wrong than buy in and be left with a RB1 putting up RB3 totals.
