Giants draft RB David Wilson to close out 1st round

The New York Giants usually go for the best player available in the first round of the draft, no matter if the player fills a need or not. Their pick to end the first round Thursday was both a quality one and a pick that addressed a need. The Giants spent pick No. 32 on Virginia Tech running back David Wilson. He set a school record in 2011 with the Hokies by running for 1,709 yards.

Fantasy Analysis:

Given Brandon Jacobs' departure and Ahmad Bradshaw @AhmadBradshaw's eternally wonky feet, Wilson is a solid get for the reigning champs. Wilson has extremely good straight-line speed and runs hard. However, unlike Bradshaw, he doesn't have the durability concerns. Wilson will compete with D.J. Ware @DJDannyWare28 and Da'Rel Scott @DaRelScott_RB for backup carries in camp, but he's only a strong summer and one (probable) injury away from grabbing a starting gig. He should be on your late-round sleeper list.
