Lions get another toy for Matthew Stafford by drafting WR Ryan Broyles

The Detroit Lions' passing offense got even better on Friday. They added Oklahoma wide receiver Ryan Broyles @RyanBroyles with a second-round pick. Broyles, who tore an ACL in November, ended his college career with 349 receptions, an NCAA record. He's only six months post-surgery, but he looks to be the future replacement for the aging Nate Burleson @Nate13Burleson.

Fantasy Analysis:

Wide receiver wasn't a true need for the Lions, so this pick kind of had a Matt Millen feel to it. But Broyles would have gone off the board much sooner in this draft if he hadn't torn his knee up, and he showed at his pro day a couple of weeks ago that his rehab is coming along very well. So, the Lions take a risk, but it could pay off in a huge way. A spread of Calvin Johnson, Titus Young @TitusYoung, tight end Brandon Pettigrew and Broyles on the field is full of matchup nightmares. Given the injury and the fact that Burleson is still in the picture, I wouldn't take on Broyles in fantasy this year. But I love him in dynasty leagues. That group of receivers is gonna be something to watch.
