Browns select WR Josh Gordon in 2nd round of supplemental draft

The Cleveland Browns have added some depth to their thin receiving corps. They used a second-round pick on former Baylor wide receiver Josh Gordon in Thursday's NFL Supplemental Draft. At 6-foot-3, 224 pounds, Gordon has a NFL-ready body for a wideout. He caught 42 passes for 714 yards while playing for the Bears in 2010. His seven touchdowns tied for the team lead with 2012 first-round NFL Draft pick Kendall Wright.
But in July 2011, Gordon failed a marijuana test and was suspended indefinitely. He transfered to Utah and sat out the entire season. He then decided to enter the supplemental draft rather than play a down for the Utes. As a result of using this pick to draft Gordon, the Browns will forfeit a second-round pick in next year's NFL Draft.

Fantasy Analysis:

Browns General Manager Tom Heckert has already said today that he expects Gordon to play in 2012. He certainly has the athleticism to compete at this level, but no one knows how quickly Gordon will pick up the team's offense or how much a full year off from football has affected him. He's a project right now who should be on the radar of those in deep dynasty leagues. Otherwise, Gordon will need to prove that he can actually get it done before fantasy owners put any stock in him.
