Second year wide receiver Vincent Brown led his team with four receptions for 81 yards and a touchdown during the San Diego Chargers win against the Green Bay Packers. Head coach Norv Turner told reporters, "(Brown) has grown up, and we all know he's got ability. A year ago, like all the rookies, he had no work during the offseason because of the lockout... He's had a great offseason, he's in the middle of having an outstanding training camp, and he obviously is a playmaker so he's a guy that's going to figure real strongly in what we do."
It's typical that coaches heap praise onto their young players at this time of the year. Many consider Brown to be a potential breakout player, especially now that he's had a year's worth of experience. For now though, Brown is slotted as the team's No. 4 receiver behind Robert Meachem, Malcom Floyd and Eddie Royal . If it were a foregone conclusion that Philip Rivers was going to have a big, rebound season and put up huge numbers, then it would be easier to think of Brown as a potential fantasy sleeper. For now, he's a player with potential that needs to climb the depth chart in order to validate his presence on any fantasy rosters.
