Cardinals QB John Skelton takes the lead over Kevin Kolb

ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting that Arizona Cardinals quarterback John Skelton @johnskelton19 is "now considered the favorite" to be the team's starting quarterback. Kevin Kolb @KevinKolb_4 has widely been considered the frontrunner in this quarterback competition but his poor performance in the preseason may have cost him his spot. Kolb will start against the Oakland Raiders on Friday and if he doesn't dramatically improve, his 2012 season may be a bust.

Fantasy Analysis:

Skelton outplayed Kolb last season. That's not to say Skelton was all that great, but more to the point Kolb was unreliable. Kolb went 1-for-5 for 21 yards last week in the Cards' preseason game against the Kansas City Chiefs. That performance was with the second team and in this next preseason game, he must show improvement. Skelton didn't exactly set the world on fire when he went 3-for-6 for 35 yards and an interception against Kansas City, but the coaching staff appears to have more confidence in him which is what really matters.
