According to sources for The Tennessean, Jake Locker will begin the season against the New England Patriots as the Titans starting QB.
Looking solely at numbers, it is hard to imagine how Locker was able to lock up the starting job after the 2nd preseason game against Tampa Bay. The 2nd year QB out of Washington was only 4 of 11 for 21 yards, but the team likes how Locker has looked throughout training camp. The preseason has been a struggle for both Titans' QBs and given the less than stellar results, it is easy to see why Tennessee is looking to see if Locker is ready to become the franchise QB they drafted him as. I still like Locker as a QB2 and given his upside because of his ability to create plays with his legs Locker could sneak near the top 10. Locker really struggles with his accuracy at times, but he does have weapons around him (Britt, Johnson, Wright, Cook and Washington) along with a stronger offensive line. There undoubtedly will be bumps along the way, but it is worth keeping an eye on Locker as he could be a nice surprise for those who wait on QB in their fantasy drafts.
