If Jabar Gaffney , 31, wants to play in the NFL again, he'll have to do it for a third team this year. The New England Patriots released Gaffney on Monday. He was joined in the unemployment line by Donte' Stallworth .
Gaffney caught 68 passes for 947 yards and five scores last seasons with the Redskins. But after they cut him in early May, he signed up for a second tour of duty with the Patriots. That lasted all of three months. Gaffney has been bothered by a quadriceps injury in the past couple of weeks.
Stallworth, also 31, hasn't put up more than 400 yards in a season since 2007.
Two things: Jabar Gaffney is only 31 years old? Jeez, it feels like he's at least 45.
Secondly, this is good news for Deion Branch , another crafty, 30-something wideout. But for fantasy purposes, Gaffney and Stallworth didn't have value. The Patriots' passing game consists of Wes Welker, Brandon Lloyd and the two tight ends. Everyone else is fighting for scraps.
