The Patriots continue to get younger at wide receiver. They traded a conditional draft pick in 2015 to the Rams on Saturday for wide receiver Greg Salas . That's what sources have told ESPN's Adam Schefter. Salas was an effective slot receiver for a little while last season, catching 27 passes in six games. However, he broke his left leg on Nov. 6 and was placed on injured reserve. Salas was a fourth-round pick in the 2011 draft. Josh McDaniels, then the Rams' head coach, helped make that selection. McDaniels is now the Patriots' offensive coordinator.
So, McDaniels brings in one of his boys. But if my mind serves me correctly, the Patriots already have a pretty good slot receiver. Salas is no better than fifth or sixth in Patriots' pecking order for targets right now, and he'll probably need an injury to Wes Welker and/or Brandon Lloyd to hold any fantasy value.
