Seahawks release TE Kellen Winslow

On Saturday, the Seattle Seahawks cut tight end Kellen Winslow, the man who was expected to be a clear-cut starter when training camp opened. The release came a little more than three months after Winslow was traded from Tampa Bay to Seattle for a conditional 2013 seventh-round pick. The Seahawks will move forward with Zach Miller @ZMiller86 and Anthony McCoy at tight end.

Fantasy Analysis:

Head coach Pete Carroll talked up the 24-year-old McCoy to the media shortly after releasing Winslow, but neither he nor Miller are anything more than mid-range TE2 players. Miller is probably the lead guy right now. Miller has three pretty nice seasons on his record from his days as an Oakland Raider, but he is coming off his fourth concussion since 2009. Winslow is just 29 years old and gained at least 700 yards in each of the past three seasons, but his knees are near shot. He'll probably land somewhere else, but I don't think he'll have much fantasy value.
