Cardinals QB John Skelton may start Week 2

The Arizona Cardinals are still optimistic that quarterback John Skelton @johnskelton19 could be ready to play in Week 2 against the New England Patriots. Skelton went down with an ankle injury in Week 1 late in his contest against the Seattle Seahawks. Backup QB Kevin Kolb @KevinKolb_4 finished the game and secured the victory by tossing a six-yard TD pass to WR Andre Roberts with only minutes left in the game. Head coach Ken Whisenhunt told reporters, "We still have a few days until the game. A lot of [what we do] is going to depend on how John's ankle as it's improving, continues to improve. We feel very fortunate that it was just an ankle sprain and a low ankle sprain at that." Skelton did not practice Wednesday.

Fantasy Analysis:

When Skelton was injured, the team seemed to rally around him as he was being taken off the field. Kolb finished the game admirably against what was a very stout Seattle defense. The Patriots have said they are gameplanning for both quarterbacks to be ready for whatever happens. Skelton gives this team its best chance to win though. WR Larry Fitzgerald @LarryFitzgerald told reporters that "this is nothing new for us." Starting Skelton or Kolb would be a risky fantasy play, even though the Pats' defense wasn't very good last season.
