Chargers GM on RB Ryan Mathews: Fumbling 'has to stop'

At the very most, Chargers head coach Norv Turner hinted earlier in the week that running back Ryan Mathews @rmathews24 could see fewer carries and less playing time if he continues to fumble. General manager A.J. Smith commented on the topic Thursday and didn't leave any room for interpretation.
"I am very concerned, and it has to stop," Smith told the Union-Tribune San Diego. "I believe you can improve ball security. And no one works any harder in trying to get better than Ryan. However, if it continues he will play less.
"When you get the call to go back on the field and the fumbling continues, then you will be somebody else's fumbler."
This stems from Mathews' latest fumble, which stopped a Chargers' second-quarter drive inside the 10-yard line against the Falcons in Week 3.

Fantasy Analysis:

So the gauntlet has been thrown down to Mathews. He gained 76 yards on 15 touches against the Falcons. If he holds on to the ball, I have to believe that his workload will increase against Kansas City this week. Get him into your lineup and hope he stays there.
