The Steelers have already ruled out safety Troy Polamalu for this Sunday's game, but head coach Mike Tomlin is leaving the door open for running backs Rashard Mendenhall and Isaac Redman . Tomlin said Tuesday that both backs "have a chance" of playing against the Redskins. They were inactive for Week 7 after missing a full week of practice. Mendenhall has been dealing with soreness around his Achilles tendon while Redman is battling an ankle injury. Jonathan Dwyer got the start against the Bengals on Sunday night and turned his 17 carries into 122 yards.
Dwyer's performance gave the Steelers a reason to not rush back neither Mendenhall or Redman, but we'll see what they are able to do during the practice week. You have to figure that Mendenhall will get the most carries if he is healthy enough, but this will probably be a frustrating committee against the Redskins if everyone here is active.
