Bills running back C.J. Spiller topped 100 yards from scrimmage for the third straight game Sunday despite touching the ball only 11 times. After the loss to the Texans, quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick said Spiller needs to be handling the rock more often.
"I mean, the story of the day for us is we've got to get C.J. more touches," Fitzpatrick said. "I think everybody knows that and we've got to find ways to do that."
Head coach Chan Gailey shared a similar sentiment after the game, too. Spiller is clearly the Bills' most explosive player and has posted better numbers than Fred Jackson in two of the past three games. That's not to say Jackson is stinking up the place, but this shouldn't be the equal timeshare that it was in Houston. With the support of his coach and QB, it'll be interesting to see if the Bills put forth actions to back up their words. Spiller is an RB2, even with Jackson healthy. Jackson has been pretty serviceable, but he's probably more of a flex option going forward, depending upon each week's matchup.
