Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski practiced on Friday, his first practice since fracturing his left forearm back in Week 11. However, he has not been officially ruled out for Week 15, and according to ProFootballTalk.com, it sounds like Gronkowski has a shot of suiting up tonight. A source has told the website that "while it remains unlikely Gronkowski plays, his toughness and determination could result in an unexpected appearance" versus the 49ers.
That's good news for his Week 16 status since initial word also had it that Gronk probably wouldn't play again until the regular-season finale. But don't put too much stock into this story. This sounds like speculation more than anything else. Plus, you can't afford to wait on Gronkowski. Do you really want to risk a zero from your tight end during the fantasy playoffs? I mean, if you really wanted to wait it out, the only other realistic option you could play is Vernon Davis, and he might end up with the same amount of fantasy points as an inactive Gronkowski. Be smart. Pick a guy whom you know will start and give you something.
