Report: Redskins QB Robert Griffin III expected to play in Week 16

Barring any potential setbacks, Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III @RGIII is expected to return from a knee injury to the starting lineup in Week 16 against the Phildadelphia Eagles. This information comes from "sources briefed on the team's medical status." Head coach Mike Shanahan was not quite as optimistic though stating that there is always the possibility that Griffin experiences swelling or some other major setback between now and kickoff. Griffin was a full participant during Wednesday's practice.

Fantasy Analysis:

Last week, it surprised me that Griffin would not play. Fellow rookie Kirk Cousins @KirkCousins8 filled in admirably passing for 329 yards, two TDs and one INT. He also did his best fantasy impression of Griffin by rushing for 22 yards. Cousins is way too risky for most fantasy squads, but should Griffin play, he's a must-start against a really bad Eagles team that only has one win in its last ten games. Washington is in the thick of a wild card race and will certainly need the rookie QB back as soon as possible.
