Ravens LB Ray Lewis announces he will retire at season's end

Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis @raylewis announced Wednesday that this will be his final season in the NFL.
"I told my team that this would be my last ride," Lewis said. "And I told them I was just at so much peace in where I am with my decision, because of everything I've done in this league. I've done it. I've done it, man. There's no accolade that I don't have individually.
"My children have made the ultimate sacrifice for their father -- the ultimate sacrifice for 17 years. I've done what I wanted to do in this business, and now it is my turn. it's my turn to give them back something."
Lewis, 37, hasn't played since Week 6 because of torn triceps, but he was taken of the injured reserve/designated to return list last week and is eyeing a return in Sunday's playoff game against the Colts. However, nothing has been made official on that front.

Fantasy Analysis:

The announcement was unexpected but not totally surprising. I'd say Ray has put together quite a resume for Canton. Seventeen seasons, all with the Ravens; thirteen Pro Bowls and a seven-time First-Team All-Pro; Super Bowl champion and MVP; two-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year; eight seasons with more than 100 tackles and the only player to have at least 40 career sacks and 30 interceptions. Plus, none of that begins to speak to Lewis' leadership qualities -- and dance moves. He will head into post-NFL life as one of the best, most dominant players the league has ever seen.
