Report: Redskins QB Robert Griffin III needs 'total reconstructive surgery' on right knee

Sources close to Dr. James Andrews have told ESPN's Chris Mortensen that the renowned doctor has found "complete" tears of the ACL and LCL in Robert Griffin's right knee. Per Mortensen, Griffin will undergo surgery, performed by Andrews, at about 7 a.m. Wednesday and his recovery timetable has been set at six to eight months, barring any setback.
"The torn ACL was diagnosed late Tuesday as a complete tear of the patella graft that was used to repair Griffin's torn ACL suffered at Baylor in 2009," Mortensen wrote. "A team source said Dr. Andrews likely will use a patella graft from Griffin's left knee to repair the most recent tear."

Fantasy Analysis:

Move over NFL Draft or anything related with the Jets; we have our overkill story of the next half year. If Griffin is ready in six months, he should be participating once training camp starts. However, if he needs the full eight months, he will likely miss the start of the 2013 regular season. It is still way too early, but it sure seems like Griffin will be a risk-reward pick of the highest order in fantasy drafts. Does Mike Shanahan now feel bad that he left the decision to let RG3 play this past Sunday up to the player and didn't pull him prior to the fourth quarter when it was obvious he was running on a flat tire?

yo B!----- my take on this situation is as such---- rg3 great leader great talent - all the luck and best wishes---- shanahan---doesnt pull him after sideline play--probably a bad decision-- doesnt put in cousins at any pt till its too late --- probably a worse deccision--- cousins not taking some first team practice snaps EVERY week since balt injury --let alone a playoff week wen team focus should not be a problem --- thats the wrongdoing--- you win as a TEAM -- and if he WAS taking snaps then why wasnt he in there ? was something wrong with COUSINS ? the 2 most controversial 2012 draft picks (arguably) ---- wilson sea -cousins was -- ironic
