Jaguars fire HC Mike Mularkey, rule out bringing in QB Tim Tebow

Jaguars general manager Dave Caldwell has been on the job for about 48 hours and he has already started shaping the team to his liking. On Thursday, he fired head coach Mike Mularkey. Mularkey, who had spent the previous four seasons as the Falcons' offensive coordinator, went 2-14 in his one season at the helm.
Caldwell also shot down the popular rumor that quarterback Tim Tebow @TimTebow is destined to play in Jacksonville next season.
"I can't imagine a scenario where [Tebow] will be a Jacksonville Jaguar," Caldwell said via the Florida Times-Union.
Caldwell was also clear that their will be a quarterback competition this offseason and into training camp.
"We plan to address the quarterback situation, obviously," Caldwell said via "Blaine (Gabbert) is the second-youngest quarterback in the NFL, but we're going to have open competition. Whether it's through draft or through free agency, we'll bring in some more people to compete at the quarterback position. We're going to let the best player win that position."

Fantasy Analysis:

I don't think Mularkey is a bad coach. I just think it probably wasn't his time. Plus, he didn't have a realistic chance to succeed with one season with that roster.
The quarterback competition news is inevitable, and Chad Henne is probably the favorite at this early juncture. The Tim Tebow news is interesting, because what does this mean for Tebow? The only team that seemed to want his services when he is released by the Jets was the Jags, and now they are out. If he is dead set on being a starting quarterback, does he have to go to the CFL? I'm sure the CFL hope so; it would love to have someone of Tebow's profile and draw. Maybe some teams in the NFL would, too. But not at the sake of keeping him as a quarterback. It looks like that is not an option for any team right now.
