Chiefs HC Andy Reid will call plays

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said Monday, as expected, that he will call the plays for the team's offense next season. Fomer 12-year NFL quarterback Doug Pederson has been named offensive coordinator, and Reid said Pederson is a "creative guy" who "knows this offense like the back of his hand." But for the time being, he will learn under Reid.

Fantasy Analysis:

Reid likes to throw a lot, but with Matt Cassel and no quarterback logically available with the No. 1 overall pick, that's probably not a method that will be beneficial for the 2013 Chiefs. Fortunately, Reid knows how to make stud running backs. Duce Staley, Brian Westbrook and LeSean McCoy all carried the load for Reid over long periods of time, and each of those backs had multiple seasons with 50 or more receptions. Jamaal Charles @jcharles25, like McCoy and Westbrook, isn't the biggest running back around, but you should trust Reid to get the ball into his hands often over the course of a season, especially as a receiver. Yes, there will probably be games in which Reid inexplicably forgets that you are allowed to use a running back in the NFL, but the Reid hire does give Charles' fantasy value a boost in PPR leagues.
