Steelers WR Antonio Brown ready for bigger role

Steelers WR Antonio Brown ready for bigger role

The Steelers' official website posted a story about wide receiver Antonio Brown @AntonioBrown84 on Tuesday that is pretty run of the mill. To recap: Brown is working out a lot, even in February; he looks forward to being more a leader; he wants to get the Steelers back into the playoffs after they fell short in 2012. Standard fare.
Of course, Brown was also asked about the possibility of becoming Pittsburgh's top wideout next season since Mike Wallace is a free agent. Brown said he'll be ready if the team needs him to be its new No. 1.
"I am always ready," Brown said. "I am ready no matter who is here, no matter who goes. I am always working on getting better. I will be ready no matter what the situation is."

Fantasy Analysis:

After registering just three receiving touchdowns in his first 34 games, Brown caught a touchdown in each of the final four weeks of the past regular season. It was only a matter of time, because Brown has big-play skills with plenty of quickness. If he can stay healthy, he should finish inside the WR2 range in fantasy (top 24, in my mind) even though he might not be drafted as such. Wallace's departure would bring Brown more targets as well as more defensive attention. Frankly, I don't think he is ready to be a true No. 1 WR on an NFL team, but the Steelers might give him that opportunity.
