TE Jared Cook will remain with Titans

The Titans don't yet know the manner in which they will sign tight end Jared Cook @JaredCook89. They could either give him the franchise tag or work out a new contract with the free agent. But the point is, the Titans will be employing Jared Cook next season. That's what general manager Ruston Webster said Thursday via Terry McCormick from Titan Insider. Cook caught 44 passes for 523 yards and four touchdowns last season.

Fantasy Analysis:

Cook hasn't lived up to expectations in Tennessee. However, you could say that's because the Titans don't use him enough. (Post-edit: Head coach Mike Munchak said today that Cook is a "priority" and the team wants to "get him more passes, more production.") He is a massive mismatch for most defenders, but he hasn't reeled in more than 50 passes in any of his four seasons. He's always been the guy who has a great late-season stretch, which makes you think he's primed to break out in the following year. And he just doesn't, until he has another great late-season stretch. He has as much upside as any tight end outside of the top 10. He just needs to get more targets, and get them from a stable quarterback. Cook won't progress if Jake Locker doesn't as well.
