Jerome Simpson 's first season with the Vikings was terrible. But they are going to give him another run. The Vikings and Simpson agreed to a one-year deal on Tuesday, news that was first reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter. Simpson caught just 26 passes in 12 games and scored no touchdowns last year.
The Vikings like Simpson's athleticism and the fact that he is in his athletic prime at age 27. But really, Simpson was a complete bust in 2012 and is not a dependable wideout. The Vikings have a lot of work to do at wide receiver after trading away Percy Harvin. How much work? Right now, Simpson is probably their No. 1 WR. I guess it's a (slow) start, but he is best deployed as a reserve. And for fantasy purposes, he should not be on many draft boards. Simpson will sprinkle in a couple of good games, but he will disappear more often than not.
