Titans sign RB Shonn Greene to 3-year, $10-million contract

The Titans have said all offseason that they wanted to get a big back to pair with Chris Johnson @ChrisJohnson28, reminiscent of the days when he shared that backfield with LenDale White. The Titans got their man on Wednesday when they signed former Jets running back Shonn Greene to a three-year deal worth $10 million. ESPN's Adam Schefter was first to report the transaction. Greene will receive $4.6 million guaranteed.

Fantasy Analysis:

Yesterday was all about tight ends on offense. Today, running backs are ruling. Greene, one of the most frustrating backs to watch and own for the past three years, is landing into a pretty nice spot in Tennessee. He is not a between-the-20s runner, but he won't need to be with the Titans. He will mostly take care of the goal-line carries as well as give Johnson a break every now and then. He is a nice handcuff pick and could be a bye-week flex option.
Obviously, losing those valuable touches isn't great news for Johnson, but perhaps his fantasy value won't take too much of a dip. Titans coaches have already said he will be their workhorse next season, and they will try to give him the ball out in space more often as a receiver. Plus, even when White was taking a ton of touchdowns away from Johnson, he was still able to post double-digits TDs. I wouldn't be surprised to see Johnson surpass last year's touchdown total of five even with Greene in the fold. That shouldn't be too difficult.
Bilal Powell is now the Jets' leading running back and ... goodness, that roster is horrible. Powell should become a backup again before long.
