The 49ers, the Seahawks, and the Redskins. All three of those teams with dual-threat quarterbacks reached the playoffs last season with a hefty dose of running from their man under center. It sounds like the Titans want to do the same with Jake Locker.
"We are going to have a lot more things for Jake," head coach Mike Munchak told The Tennessean. "We worked on things for him after we drafted him ... and you want defenses to worry about these types of things. But maybe we wouldn't do it to the degree you have seen other teams do it, because I don't know if the quarterback can hold up doing that."
Titans are not going to use Locker like a Michael Vick. They will have to pick and choose their spots, and Munchak knows that. The Titans won't be reckless with him, but Locker certainly has the athleticism to be an effective runner. It would help his fantasy value, even if it also increases his already-notable injury risk. Locker can be a solid fantasy backup QB this season. Currently, he is rehabbing from offseason surgery on his left (non-throwing) shoulder.
