Broncos QB Peyton Manning says his neck is still limiting him

Peyton Manning threw for 4,659 yards and 37 touchdowns last season at the age of 36. He was named the NFL's Comeback Player of the Year. He made his 12th Pro Bowl and was the runner-up in the Most Valuable Player voting. Not bad for someone who wasn't -- and still isn't -- fully recovered from multiple neck surgeries two years ago.
"When you're dealing with nerves, I've learned it's a patience deal," Manning said in a TV interview Friday. "They kind of say it could be a year or two, or it may never come back, so I'm kind of hopeful. I kind of wish certain things would come back a little bit more, but I have learned to adjust and compensate in the state that I am. I still would like to make some more improvement. I still work at it.
"... I'm certainly better than I was last year. But I'm still not quite where I was before I was injured."

Fantasy Analysis:

Regardless of his physical state, 2013 Peyton Manning could put up equal or better numbers than the 2012 version with Wes Welker added to a group that already included Demaryius Thomas and Eric Decker. But the fact that Manning is still in recovery mode and admits he isn't able to do some things on the football field makes what he accomplished last year even more impressive. It is astonishing to think about what he can do with this offense when he does regain all of abilities. Manning is an easy top-five fantasy QB.
