Although the draft still in front of us, Andre Brown is the heavy favorite to be the Giants' goal-line back this season. Apparently, he plans on being there a lot.
"I have to outdo last year's stats," Brown said Tuesday, via the New York Daily News. "Eight touchdowns -- I want 22. I want 1,300 (yards) this year. That's the steppingstone. I have to erase last year's stats and show I can do better."
Brown scored eight touchdown on just 73 carries in 10 games last season. His run to reach double digits ended in November due to a broken leg.
And I want a filet mignon every night. But ...
Brown also says he wants to prove that he's more than just a short-yardage runner, that he can do it all. But "doing it all" will be in the job description of David Wilson this season more often than not. He is an easy top-20 fantasy back right now. However, Brown is a very fine handcuff. He will continue to get a lot of chances deep in the red zone and will get his chances to showcase his overall talent if Wilson doesn't pan out like most expect him to.
