If Giants running back Andre Brown wants to reach his goals of scoring 22 touchdowns with 1,300 yards this season, he is going to need to play all 16 games. And on Tuesday, it became official that he will play it -- or at least start it -- under his one-year, $2.02 million contract tender. Brown is entering his fifth season and is coming off his first season of consistent playing time with any team. He got 73 carries and scored eight touchdowns. He also averaged 5.3 yards per carry.
And then there was one. The Giants now have one restricted free agent remaining who has yet to sign: wide receiver Victor Cruz. And it doesn't sound like he is going to for quite a while.
Brown's ridiculous standards for himself notwithstanding, he is going to be a popular mid-to-late-round running back in many drafts and should be one of the first handcuffs selected. He is the Giants' goal-line back and has a very good shot at scoring double-digit touchdowns.
