The Eagles took Stanford tight end Zach Ertz with the 35th overall pick Friday. He fits the offense's new profile as an athletic, versatile receiver, and he is a mismatch at tight end. He caught 69 passes for 898 yards and six touchdowns last season with the Cardinal.
Fantasy-wise, Ertz is definitely worth a shot in dynasty leagues, because head coach Chip Kelly loves to use his tight ends, and Ertz has the ability to be a solid down-the-field weapon. But for this year, he has things to work on. First and foremost, blocking. So while this pick means the end is nigh for Brent Celek 's time in Philadelphia, and it definitely hurts his fantasy prospects, he may be kept around while Ertz is molded into a more complete tight end. The rookie may make an impact in 2013, but I don't think it will come until the season's second half.
