Cowboys add to offense with TE Gavin Escobar, WR Terrance Williams

Jason Witten @JasonWitten is signed through 2017, but he also turns 31 in May, so the Cowboys used a second-round pick on San Diego State tight end Gavin Escobar on Friday. They then focused their attention to the available wide receivers in the third round and selected Baylor's Terrance Williams @TerranceWill2.

Fantasy Analysis:

Escobar should be thought of much like Martellus Bennett during his days in Dallas. He could be an elite pass-catching tight end, but as long as Witten is around, his fantasy value will remain very limited. Escobar nothing more than a deep stash in dynasty leagues right now.
Williams is a big-play threat, as evidenced by his 18.9 yards per catch average last season. Given the fragile state of Miles Austin @MilesAustinIII's hamstrings and the lack of really strong options behind him, Williams is one injury away from having significant fantasy value in all leagues this season. He should be able to surpass Dwayne Harris @D_Harris17 and take over as Dallas' No. 3 WR before long.

You know I don't really mind the trade back the Cowboys did from #18 to #31, but the value they got sucks. Yeah I know that according to 'their' chart, they got good value, but other teams were getting better value with the standard chart. I guess Jerry and Stephen made their own chart based on whatever it is they think.
With the #31 pick, I really do not understand the pick that they most likely could have gotten at #47. They talk about needing another DT, a pass rushing DE and a back up RB, yet they let an elite DT (Floyd) go by, they let a pass rushing fool and kick blocker (Hunt) go by and they passed on the top 3 or 4 RBs.
Okay RB I understand in round 1, but they should have taken Floyd. But since they didn't ...
With the #40 pick that they should have gotten from SF, they could have taken Hunt. Then with their original #47 take Fredrick (if they just have to have him so early).
I have no problem with their 3rd round picks and in fact looking forward to how that plays out.
I hope I'm wrong in all this, but a DT is needed and we passed on a good one, as did others, but come on, at #18 they could have done it. I'm having flashbacks from 1998 when we passed on Randy Moss and then the Vikings picked him up a few picks later. Moss burned us every time he played against us, I think Floyd may be a tackling machine, especially playing against the Cowboys.

You do reaiize Terrance Wiliams led major college FB in receiving yards don't you? The Cowboys got the NCAA leader in yards, who averaged nearly 19 YPC, and got an offensive lineman they liked. No other team was able to do that well, and with the 18th pick got 2 players of need-one a stat leader for the whole of major college FB. Romo needed protection and a guy who can catch the ball. Job well done with that 1 mid first round slot..
