Where does WR Keenan Allen fit in Chargers' offense?

The Chargers spent a third-round pick Friday on a player who was thought to be a top-20 guy not too long ago. Concerns about Keenan Allen's knee and ankle injuries, and a report that he failed a drug test at the NFL Combine led to him falling quite far. The California wide receiver landed in San Diego, a team that is already stocked at receiver with Danario Alexander @D_Alexander84, Malcom Floyd, Vincent Brown @VincentBrown86 and tight end Antonio Gates.

Fantasy Analysis:

At first glance, it certainly doesn't look to be a lot of room there for a rookie, even one with Allen's talents, to make much of an impact. He still hasn't fully recovered from knee surgery after tearing his PCL in October, but he should be 100 percent in time for training camp. Best-case scenario to me is Allen finds a spot on the field right away, most likely at the expense of Brown, when the Chargers go three-wide. But I think his production will be inconsistent in 2013. This was probably a pick looking forward to 2014 when Alexander may leave as a free agent, and Allen is ready to step right in and replace him.
Honestly, I don't know. Allen can be a great player, but he probably would have been better served if he was drafted by a team that had an obvious need at wide receiver. The Chargers don't, and that probably leaves him in limbo for a while.
But, boy howdy, the cupboard is full for Philip Rivers now. His surrounding cast will put him on many QB sleeper lists this summer.
