Another player-for-player trade has been made official during the draft. It contains players who most likely would have been cut if no trade had been worked out, but here it is: The Patriots sent a seventh-round pick in this draft and running back Jeff Demps to the Buccaneers for running back LeGarrette Blount .
The fantasy values here are close to nil. Demps, a silver medalist in the 2012 Olympics, wants to play football, but he has made it clear that he is first concentrated on running track. If he gets on the football field, he could be a gimmick player for the Bucs, but there's no guarantee that he'll ever see playing time. Tampa Bay needs to get a better backup behind Doug Martin.
Same goes for Blount. He looked great as a rookie in 2010, gaining more than 1,000 yards and averaging five yards per tote. Since then, he has become a supremely frustrating player to watch. He has the body of a goal-line back, but he doesn't score many touchdowns. The Patriots already have Stevan Ridley and Shane Vereen entrenched. Blount will be fighting for No. 3 RB duties.
