The saga ends: Jets release QB Tim Tebow

Last season, the acquisition of Tim Tebow @TimTebow by the New York Jets became the talk of the NFL despite the fact that Tebow rarely stepped onto the field. Now, the polarizing quarterback won't be playing at all for the Jets after the team released him Monday morning or less than 72 hours since New York drafted West Virginia QB Geno Smith @GenoSmith_12 in the second round of the NFL Draft. Smith and incumbent starter Mark Sanchez @Mark_Sanchez will compete for No. 1 job this offseason.

Fantasy Analysis:

Talk about your failed marriages. Worse than the fact Tebow attempted only eight passes and averaged less than three carries over the 12 games he participated in during 2012 was the fact that the national media -- in particular a certain four-letter network - breathlessly felt the need to update the masses every second of every day about non-existing developments. While that nightmare is over, a new one begins: speculation about where Tebow lands next might be worthy of a landing its own nightly TV show, perhaps on "the Ocho." The last time we saw the half QB-half HB play regular snaps he was leading the Denver Broncos to a playoff victory in 2011 and posting decent fantasy stats. However, his unconventional style and passing mechanics likely has most of the league shying away and to this point Tebow has passed on changing positions. The obvious fit for the former Florida Gator star is with the Jaguars, who interestingly did not select a QB during the NFL Draft. Tebow is an icon in that part of the world and Jacksonville's current passing tandem of Blaine Gabbert and Chad Henne is hardly dynamic. If the Jaguars don't come calling, perhaps Tebow's long assumed career in the CFL begins. Let the speculation begin.

I speculate that more than a few Monday morn QB's, who's pens are infinitely mightier than their resume's, will have a wonderful time patting themselves on the back while reminding anyone who will listen, that they knew it all along...Let's not forget that his complete inability to throw a spiral has not stopped him from being a winner at every level. Can't some team in this League find a way to use this kid properly. At the very least, his name sells tickets and as my daughter would say," he's cute as a button".
