An unspecified team with Top 10 pick in the 2013 NFL Draft went on record with ESPN New York saying that the former West Virginia signal-caller displayed a "diva attitude" during his pre-draft visit. One NFC scout said anonymously, "He's going to have a tough time in New York. Right now, he's coming off as a spoiled, pampered brat." For what it's worth, Jets GM John Idzik said of Smith, "we did our homework on Geno and we got a real good feel for him."
Wow, these NFL execs are really teeing off on this guy. Did he wink at one of the owners' wives? Holler at one of the GMs' daughters? This is getting ridiculous. The 24-hour NFL news cycle is becoming really catty. Smith is 22 years old. At worst, all I really can glean from this information is that he wasn't out there kissing asses because he rubbed a lot of guys the wrong way. That's part of any business and apparently, Smith is going to have to learn this the hard way. I read one headline that read, "Geno Smith must lean that he has a lot to learn." Sounds like something you might say to a 22-year-old, right? A lot of this stuff is unnecessary, but hey, that's the world we live in apparently.
