Because RBC Marcus Lattimore suffered multiple knee injuries and underwent surgeries in college, the 49ers rookie is expected to be placed on the non-football injury list before training camp rather than the PUP list. Either way, the designation would keep the back out for the first six games.
Realistically, the former South Carolina star is not expected to contribute much at all as a rookie because of his brutal knee injuries, the last one coming in late October. The list designation doesn't mean much either other than to note those hoping for an early season stunner should look for such surprizes elsewhere. Frank Gore and Kendall Hunter will carry the load this season so the 49ers have no reason to even comtemplate rushing him back. At points during his college career, Lattimore looked like a lock for the first round, if not the first 15 picks, so there is a reason why much intrigue surrounds him. Redrafters should likely avoid altogether while those in keeper and dynasty leagues can ponder.
