Matt Barkley might win Eagles' starting QB job

Matt Barkley might win Eagles' starting QB job

That's pretty much the headline on top of a Sunday story by the Philadelphia Inquirer's Jeff McLane. He cites the fact that Barkley is the only quarterback hand-picked by head coach Chip Kelly on the roster (I guess we're not counting Dennis Dixon), and that Barkley bests Michael Vick @MikeVick in accuracy, which is of ultimate importance to Kelly, McLane also writes that Kelly would have never drafted Barkley if he felt comfortable with Nick Foles as his backup signal caller.
"History says fourth-round quarterback hardly ever start in the NFL, let alone as rookies," McLane writes. "But the NFL is evolving and in certain segments becoming more like the college game and vice versa. And there's something about the Great Kelly Unknown that suggests anything is possible."

Fantasy Analysis:

Not that Barkley will win the job. It would still be a major suprise if he does. But this is just a reminder to not rule him out right away. Vick is still the favorite, but we'll be watching a three-man battle for the starting QB job take place this summer in Philly.
