Jets running back Mike Goodson was taken into custody early Friday morning, charged with drug and weapons possession, according to News 12 New Jersey. Goodson, who turns 26 next week, and a companion were "found intoxicated" by New Jersey state police in an SUV stopped along a highway in Denville. USA Today's Mike Garafolo later reported Goodson has been charged with marijuana possession, possession of drug, paraphernalia, handgun possession, loaded gun and possession of hollow-point bullets.
Yikes. The Jets chaotic offseason just took another unwanted turn, though at least this time we're not talking about a quarterback. Added this offseason after stints with the Raiders and Panthers, Goodson figured to be the backup or alternate option behind newly acquired Chris Ivory , but now all that should be on his mind is avoiding jail time. No matter what transpires in the courts, an NFL suspension of some length seems probable. Bilal Powell and Joe McKnight are also in the Jets backup RB mix.
